Off to Girl's camp!

To say that Julianne dreads change is a big understatement. So things like moving and new schools OBVIOUSLY impact her a lot, but also little things that are just a little out of the ordinary prove to give her a little anxiety. Last year was her first year going to camp. She did go, but it required a fair bit of "hand holding" to make the week a success. I even had to promise to drive up there halfway just to even get her to agree to go. In the end she had a good time. This year we had some of the same anxieties. But she got all packed herself. She got everything ready and loaded and she knew that there was no way I was going to drive 4 1/2 hours to come see her mid week. She insisted on taking her cell phone (only for emergency calls to me). This morning she took off! It was pouring rain which helped make the good-byes rather quick. I hear there is NO cell phone service at all where they will be and a part of me is hoping that is true.
