Charades

One thing fun about my family is that we all love to play games. Yesterday (Sunday) was no exception. We all played charades -- Here are some of the highlights. . . My sis, Carrie -- we finally got a word right!Carrie's "friend", George, he must feel comfortable around all of us crazies, cause he joins right in the fun!
Shad -- he just might drop out of dental school to join the ballet!
My Dad, doing what he normally does -- Actually, his thing to act out was the TV show "That's so Raven" -- This is his best impersonation of a Raven.
Tyler, acting out the munchkins in the Wizard of Oz -- uncanny resemblance huh????
I even participated -- here I am acting out reading a story -- My movie was "Toy Story"

Mother's Day

My children and husband always make Mother's day so nice for me. Here I am anxiously waiting to open all the sweet, homemade cards and gifts just like every year.
But, wait . . . what is this???? a new digital camera and 2 lenses . . . for me! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully, the quality of photos on my blog improves. If they don't, please, please, lie and say they do!

Adam's chores

Adam loves to be out helping Daddy with the Saturday chores (lawn mowing, car washing, weeding, etc. . . ). He is a serious helper and he tries so hard. It is the cutest thing ever-- even if it does slow you down quite a bit. He has no interest in pretending to help, he has to be doing the real thing. Here he is helping to sweep up the patio.

Hamming it up!

Here are Madelyn and Tatum doing their best fashion interpretation.
And Adam's new pose whenever he see a camera out -- He smiles really big and squints his eyes and says "Cheeeeeese".

Swim Team starts again

Swim team has started again. We had hoped Madelyn could do it this year, but they would only take kids that would be 4 by June 1st. And so she has to wait. Here is Catherine after practice (see those goggle circles around her eyes?)
Here is Julianne after her practice. This is their 3rd year of swim team together and the first year where they are not in the same age group. Julianne is in the 7/8 year old group, while Catherine is still in the 6&under age group.

As for Madelyn, Adam and I, we try to stay cool. I bring a blanket and "fun things" to do and there is a park right by the pool for us to play. It can sometimes be a long hour and 15 minutes, but we manage somehow!

Spring Field Trips

Catherine and Julianne both had field trips in the last 2 weeks. It was a lot of fun to go with them. (Thanks, Mom, for watching Madelyn and Adam so I could be with the girls on their special days!)

Catherine's trip was to Dewberry Farms. I was very excited to go there, as was she. Here in the Houston area we have always gone to a place called the Oil Ranch to have a "farm experience." The kids love the Oil Ranch and so when we found out about Dewberry farms we were hesitant to try it out fearing that it might not be as awesome as the Oil Ranch. But now, having been to both, they are both really fun and both really different. Considering that they have a similar theme and niche, they really don't overlap eachother at all. In fact, one could go to one on one day and then the other the next day and hardly repeat anything. The only big difference is that the Oil Ranch is open year round to the public, whereasDewberry farms is only open to the public in the fall. (Only schools and groups get to go in the spring)

Julianne's trip was to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. We also got to see and IMAX movie on the Galapagos islands. We had a nice time, even though it probably rained 5 inches that day and they were unable to go to Hermann Park for their picnic and to play. By the time they had finished sitting on the bus in heavy rain and traffic for an hour and a half, watching a (kind of boring for 2nd graders) IMAX and eating lunch while sitting quietly in a museum hallway, they were ready to run. My group of kids pretty much finished the whole museum in 30 minutes (they were going really fast and energetic) and then we still had 2 hours to occupy. Time seemed to stand still, but we finally made it and the kids got on the bus. It was too bad the weather did not cooperate a little more.

Sad News

We were very excited to go to my doctor's appointment today. Today was the ultrasound and we were all anxious to find out if the baby was a boy or girl. However, the nurse was unable to locate the baby's heartbeat. She left and then my doctor came in and did an ultrasound and we could see clearly our sweet baby, but there was no heart beat nor any movement. Trent was with me and we are very sad. I have had a miscarriage before, and while they are not easy to go through, I do know that time will help ease the pain and memory. I just wanted all of you to know, because really the hardest thing about it is just telling everyone. It is like you have to relive the disappointment over and over again and see the sadness in their faces and hear the sadness in their voices. So, we will continue on, probably just as busy as normal. We do appreciate all your thoughts and prayers.
